Has anyone used an IUD? Particularly ParaGard?!

Question: Has anyone used an IUD.? Particularly ParaGard.?
I cannot take birth control pills! The hormones wreck havoc on my body. The only contraceptive that seems to fit is an IUD.

I understand that I could have a heavier and more painful period, but I feel like I can deal with that over the complications of hormones.

My biggest fear is that I haven't had a baby before and that my body will reject it!

How do you feel about IUDs.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I have the Paragaurd and I love it because ,like you, my body hates hormones, they make me insane and give me painful, daily headaches, so I didn't want to deal with any of that anymore, those crappy side effects, besides weight gain and facial hair, I think I had all of them!! I too, do NOT mind dealing with heavier, more painful periods so that I never have to experience the side effects or risks of hormonal birth control. Anyway, I feel like the non hormonal IUD is a GREAT thing. I don't think many women know exactly what they are doing to their bodies by taking these synthetic hormones, a lot of women who love their hormonal birth control, may not understand that it is the thing cuaing them to be mean, or have no sex drive, or get a lot of acne, because doctors tend to downplay these things, like they rarely happen when infact, side effects are VERY common with hormonal birth control. Not to mention the serious risks involved, now I know it's rare, but young women have been known to have serious complications as a result of using hormonal BC and sometimes they were only on it for a few months! I think any woman should be able to get a copper IUD if she wants one. I HAVE had a baby, but I KNOW that they will give copper IUD's to women who haven't, the only problem with that is, like you said, the risk of expelling it is higher. Oh, I guess also the insertion may hurt more and it might be more uncomfortable around that time of the month to have it in your body, but really, I think you should go for it. I am happy to see someone making the right decision for their health and well-being. I really urge you to try it, if you hate it, you can easily have it removed. I have had mine for three months and have not a period yet because I was on the depo shot before that which actually stopped my period and who knows when I will get it back because of that poison, but I HAVE been spotting constantly for those three months, nothing too bad though, and that's about the only issue I have with it which seriously is nothing to me but a little bit annoying, but then, I am thankful to be rid of synthetic hormones, I feel one hundred times better. Here is a really good website for you to visit and look over, it's a bunch of women basically on a message board talking about thier IUD's, I found it very helpful for me before I got mine and quite frequently after I got it, and many of the women on this site have never had childred, they refer to that on the site as nulliparous(or NP- that means they are child free) so remember that so you can read the ones of interest to you.
