Help needed for using Yeast infection ointment?!

Question: Help needed for using Yeast infection ointment.?
I've never had sex and got yeast infection. The doctor told me to use 1% canestan cream. But after 3 days,I still felt itching and burning so other day the pharmacist advised me to insert 4% monistat prefilled applicator alittle bit inside of vagina for effectiveness. After a little insersion, i felt heaviness and some blood got on to the applicator after a little insertion.I'm very afraid and depressed that i might have broken my hymen. could it be that... or is it blood from some rash because i don't exactly know if hymen is inside or outside and how much it bleeds. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
also ,that 4% cream caused so much itching and burning that i ended up wipping it off. what is the best way to use it safely.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
If you are sure you have a yeast infection and your original prescription did not work, go back to your doctor and ask him about an oral medication called Diflucan (fluconazole). It is an oral antifungal that will wipe it out in about a day or so.

If you have never had sex and you found blood after inserting something into your vagina, it is likely that you may have begun to erode your hymen. Hymen erosion does not mean you are not a virgin. If you have a period and use a tampon, it will also erode your hymen.

Your hymen is a very thin membrane just on the inside of your vagina.

Monistat can be quite abrasive. Some women are much too sensitive to use it. I used monistat as per doctor's orders when I was very young, and ended up in the hospital due to a severe allergic reaction.

If you are still experiencing symptoms of a yeast infection, you should get back to your doctor. Ask the doctor if your infection could possibly be bacterial vaginosis, or BV. BV is a bacterial infection, so antifungal medications would be useless. If it is BV, which displays many of the same symptoms of yeast infections, you will need antibiotics. Be aware though, that antibiotics can cause yeast infections as well.

Yeast infections are caused by a fungus called Candida albacans. Candida is part of your normal flora (natural bacteria and fungus found in and on your body). Normally, Candida is kept at bay by lactobacillus, a bacteria that is part of your normal flora. When you take antibiotics, it can attack that "good bacteria" and cause an imbalance in your normal flora. An overgrowth of Candida is the root cause of a yeast infection.

You should definitely get back in to the doctor. Good luck. I hope I helped.Health Question & Answer
