There are many options for hormone replacement therapy, and some people don't need it at all. I had a hysterectomy at a very early age, and have had no side effects of HRT. Plus - just because you remove the uterus does not mean that you have to remove the ovaries - so you wouldn't need HRT at all if they only remove the uterus. Talk to your doctor. You are losing a ton of nutrients and vitamins by bleeding so long - what do you really have to lose by talking to the dr.?
Ask if a partial hysterectomy is the answer for you and explain that you don't want to take HRT or go through menopause. You could be just as tired and run down from having such a long period as you might be after a hyst. I think you would feel better not having to worry about something for so long, and you can add back those activities you have lost.Health Question & Answer

Listen, do you really think hysterectomy induced menopause would be worse than bleeding to death for 73 days.? Come on. You think that would wear you down more than hemorrhaging for months on end.? I don't have endometriosis but knew a colleague who did have it. At one point the doctors recommended that she try Depo Provera. She chose not to try this method but it sounds like something that may benefit you. Health Question & Answer
