Question about switching birth control?!

Question: Question about switching birth control.?
Alright so I started taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo back in October and everything was fine but then when I got my period in November I was already taking the placebo's and I told my mom I needed a new pack and she refused to pay another $60 for the pills and said she would talk to my doctor so that he can prescribe me a generic version that is cheaper and what not. Anyways, I took my last placebo pill like 2 weeks ago and I know I was suppose to start a new pack the day after taking my last placebo but my mom is dumb and waited forever to go to the pharmacy to get the new pills. I finally got them today and well I guess I have to wait until I get my period next month to start taking them. Am I going to have any nasty side effects.? The side effects I had with Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo were nausea in the morning when I took the white pills but that was it. I also had some diareah but that went away also. These pills are called Tri-Sprintec. Has anyone taken these pills.? Please help. Are they as effective as the Ortho pills.? Do I have to wait a month to have unprotected sex.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I believe you can start taking the birth control pills right away. You'll need to use another form of birth control for 7 days, though, because that's how long it will take for them to be effective.Health Question & Answer
