Yes. Sometimes periods are delayed if you are very active, like you run and play sports you may not get it for a while. A lot of gymnasts and olympians don't get it at all. This is because your hormones are working so hard to keep you fit and hydrated and everything else, so your hormones do not have enough of what they need to cause the egg to flow which causes your period.
hope this helps!Health Question & Answer

I guess it could be true.....because I know you can stop your period or lighten it (once you've already had it) by doing an excessive amount of physical exercize. But I doubt just playing a sport would delay it. Are you concerned because you don't have yours yet.? If so, it's probably more due to your weight....you have to have a certain percentage of body fat before you can get your period. also you are only 13, some girls do not get it until they are like 16-17. It's not time to worry unless you are 17 and don't have a period yet. If you are really all that concerned, go talk to your doctor, and they will be able to tell you if there's anything wrong, and possibly even when you can expect your period, as there are certain "signs" on your body where a doctor can tell if you should be expecting your first period soon or not. I'd say yes. I am and never was active and my first period was when I was eleven. It stunk. My Mom was like, "What the.? You already started.?" And I was like, "Yeah!" Welcome to girlhood! =)Health Question & Answer
