I've tried taking the pills. It works for me but its just that after taking the pills, I will have this very bad headache.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You could talk to your doctor about a new brand of pills. Different birth control pills have different amount of hormones in them, so it could have just been the combination of hormones that was giving you the headache.

There's the nuva ring which you leave in for a month. It's a small ring which you insert into your vagina for three weeks and take out the fourth week to have your period. It has the same hormones as the pill but you won't have to remember to take a pill everyday.

The patch you put a patch on your body once a week for three weeks and the fourth week you don't and you will have your period. Same hormones.

You can have an IUD, but these are typically only recommended for women who have had children. If you haven't had kids, it may not be as effective. These can stay in for many years. And when taken out fertility returns.

The depo shot is injected every three months. Most women will stop having a period. But some women will bleed for weeks at a time. It doesn't contain any estrogen.

Hope this helps and good luck.Health Question & Answer

how long have you been on the pill.? it does take time for your body to adjust to the hormones - like 3 months for some people. If you've been on it for longer than that, talk to your doc about it and try switching to another pill.

You'll hear a bunch of different answers because everyone's body will react differently to the level of hormones etc. There's horror stories for everything. IUDs can render a woman sterile, the pill gave me a pulmonary embolism from which 10% of the people die within the first hour, etc.

Most painless would be male or female condoms and other barrier methods. If you double up on these...use male condom, spermicide, and diaphragm for example... they're pretty effective. Just kind of a annoying to put on/in!

good luck!Health Question & Answer

Speak to your doctor or nurse about your side effects and see if they can offer any other kind of pill with lower amounts of whatever is in your pill.
I know a few women who have switched and found a pill that suits them so hopefully you will too :)
The pill I am on is Microgynon 30, is that the same one as yours.?
It is a strong pill and some of my friends suffered many headaches and nausea.

Good luck!Health Question & Answer

# diaphragms and caps

# condom

# contraceptive coils (IUDs)

# Mirena (levonorgestrel) (the newer 'hormone coil'

# contraceptive implants (possibly).
I think it would be best if you now went to your local Family Planning Clinic and talked over your preferences with them. All the above methods are available at the clinic.Health Question & Answer

Abstinence. Your boyfriend might claim pain, but it's just talk to get you to bed.Health Question & Answer
