atleast thats what my doctor told meHealth Question & Answer

Anxiety about doctors is not uncommon. However, they are not there to hurt you. You need to rationalize that with yourself. There are like in any profession good and bad doctors. Find one that you are comfortable with first. But eventually you will need to be examined.

Try thinking of it another way. Would you rather be healthy or have something take its toll on your body. Many diseases and cancers are found in their early stages and treatable. While if you ignore them, they may only end up killing you.Health Question & Answer

It's not as bad as you think it is. I used to have anxiety attacks when I was your age when I went to the doctor so I know what you're going through. I promise you though, it's to better your health. You may as well do it now. The dr put you on birth control for a reason so she needs to check you out and make sure everything's going fine. Don't be so worried. You'll be ok.Health Question & Answer

You shouldn't be worried. Just go to a female doctor, and they probably see Hundreds a year, and they have on themselves, so they'd be like ... yep and your fine in like 30 seconds.

Don't worry about it:)Health Question & Answer

Oh well i had my dr do that yes it was uncomfy but i got use to it dont worry about it id be even more scared if it was my mom!Health Question & Answer

Perhaps you would have a better time if you did not view the medical encounter as some sort of hostile battle. Even as a lesbian it is important to have a pelvic exam at some point in the future - either when you become sexually active or at age 18. Medical people are not there to judge you or your lifestyle. Holding back information only makes the job harder and therefore makes it more likely a mistake with happen - with you being the loser.

The medication was prescribed for you to try to help with what sounds like erratic menstrual cycles. Its your body. If you want to deal with erratic menstrual cycles, then stop the medications. Its your decision and its you who will live with the benefit or consequence.

Perhaps taking some time talking with a counselor will help with your phobia about medical people. Really their interest is what's in your best interest.

The first thing I'm going to say is if you don't feel comfortable with your doctor, keep looking until you find one that you do feel comfortable with (if your parents will allow this.) I understand why you're afraid to go, but they can't hold you down anymore. Doctors are on your side (or the should be), and only perform exams when needed, for your benefit. They need to do exams to make sure everything is ok - they check for lots of stuff, from STD's to cancer when you go. Even if your a lesbian, that is still considered to be sexually active. There really isn't anything to be afraid of.

When you do go, try to tell the doctor why you're afraid. The first thing I would say to them is "you totally freak me out" and tell them why. I'm really surprised they put you on the pill without an exam. Health Question & Answer
