If you have reached puberty, then there is a possibility of becoming pregnant... but only if you are ovulating when you have sex. Many women do not ovulate when they have their first period, but just as many do. Which means simply this... you have sex 2 weeks before your unforeseen period is to occur and you run the chance of getting pregnant. Since you don't know it is coming, you don't know you run the chance.
I would say if you have not had a period you should not be having sex, in a rare case that you are say 16 or 17 years old and still haven't had a period then i would go see a gyno before having sex to see what is going on anyways, also if this is the case you can't get on the pill or on the shot or anything like that.
