i cant figure out how to use a tampon! i tried to do like five times and i cant get it to work. my mom doesn't use tampons so i cant ask her. can someone please give me directions. thanks this is kinda embarrassing.Health Question & Answer

Sit on the toilet with your legs a bit apart. hold the tampon between your thumb and middle finger with your forefinger touching the end where the string is. Using your thumb and forefinger slide the tampon in you about halfway, kind of at an angle toward the back, toward your anus (slight angle toward the back). use your forefinger to push that part with the string in you until it stops. throw the part your thumb and forefinger was holding away. you should only see the string hanging from you. it will be a little uncomfortable at first because you're not used to the feeling but in a few months with regular use you will get used to it. also you probably won't get it the first few tries because it's uncomfortable. finally, only try while you're on your period! it's best during this time because of the lubrication. if you try at any other time you will only cause yourself pain and frustration. when you finally do get it (which you will, just keep trying) use a pad also until you get good at it.
