I had a c-section 6 1/2 months ago. I was bleeding red for the first week (at most) and then it was brown. It wasn't profuse, but definitely enough to need a pad all day. When you have a c-section, you usually bleed less because during the surgery they scrape most of the stuff out. Mine lasted about 2 1/2 weeks. It was brown and sometimes pink. It probably won't last much longer. If you are breast feeding, it will cause you to bleed more and cramp more. It's normal to smell bad. I also remember a smell coming from the incision area. My doctor said it was normal. I felt very self conscious for a few weeks because I really thought I smelled. Shower often and wash the incision with soap. There's not much more you can do, but I remember the same thing and I was worried. It was totally normal, though. Good luck and congrats!Health Question & Answer

As long as you not bleeding profusely. Don't worry !! However, I suggest that you should contact your OBGYN who did the C-Section procedure as soon as possible.

If you don't have a post-operative followup visit with your doctor. This would be the time to schedule that appointment. I cannot say for sure what your problem is. But, based on your description of what's going it's not normal to have smelly brown discharge.

Good Luck Health Question & Answer

I don't know about c-sections, but i have bled with all of my pregnancies, and yes i did smell, you just have to remember that you haven't bled for 9 months, so all that nasty stuff is finally coming out. Health Question & Answer
