Answers:
You don't need to talk to your mom.

You do not need your parents permission to see the doctor, and in fact it is illegal for your parents prevent you from seeing a doctor.

also important to know is that anything you tell your doctor is confidential, and your doctor cannot discuss it with your parents (or anyone else) without your permission.

So if you are afraid your mom won't approve, just call up and make the appointment yourself. If it is time to see the gyno, it is time to be a big girl.

Oh - one last bit of advice - if you have the option - choose a male gyno. I know it seems weird - but trust me - it's better.Health Question & Answer

Depending how old you are, make an appointment yourself. If you've had your period before, that is a good enough excuse to go, that is usually when girls are supposed to go, once they get they're period, once they've had sex, or once they turn 18, whatever happens first. It seems hard to talk to parents about these things, but don't bring up sex, just say you want to see a OBGYN because you hear you need to after you start your periodHealth Question & Answer

How old are you.? Supposedly you're supposed to see an OB-GYN regularly after you turn 18, maybe you could say you want to get a check-up, just so you know how everything's doing down there. Even if you're under 18, it wouldn't be a bad idea if you're having sex, and if she knows you're having sex, I'm sure she'll agree. I know it's hard (I always feel weird asking my mom about stuff like that), but that's what moms are for :)Health Question & Answer

If she already knows that you are having sex, it won't be such a big deal to talk with her about making a gynecology appointment. She will understand. It is a very normal part of a woman's life. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Ask a close friend's mom... Sometimes that's what friends (and their mom's) are forHealth Question & Answer
