I have a question about my period.?!

Question: I have a question about my period..?
I am 31. There is no possible way I am pregnant, I have no children & I am not on any birth control. The past 6 months my periods have become abnormal for me. The first 4 months, I would have my period for one day & it would come back 2 weeks later as a normal period. For the past 2 months, it would show up a week and a half before my period is due. It starts off as a period for an hour on day one. Then I have light brown spotting leading up to my period. Once my period shows up, it is normal. But leading up to it is wierd. What could be causing this and should I be worried.? I consistently worry about cancer. I have no family history of these kinds of cancers but it still worries me. Please help any way you can.Health Question & Answer

Lots of things affect your period, from stress, to exercise. The first things is to keep a diary, then you can see when exactly you are spotting and when the pain and period comes, also this will give you more in depth answers to things like, where you stressed that week, did you have extra exercise, more pressure, new things affecting you etc etc. Once your comfortable with this information, I would go your GP and discuss this with them. There are tests they can do from bloods to smears and more investigations if nothing comes of them to Laperoscopy to Colposcopy etc. The main things are
1) Understand when your bleeding, and if their is a pattern
2) Keep a diary of events to see if it affects your cycle.
3) Discuss with your doc and do any tests.

Its also worth understanding that our periods are also closely related to those of other close women to us, i.e. if you normally work or live close to another woman, both of your cycles become regulated to each other, therefore if you change job, rotate staff or move away from that close person, your body then needs time to adjust again with other dominant cycles before they regulate again.Health Question & Answer

Any changes in your menstrual cycle that worry you should be checked out by a doctor or gyno. It does sound like a hormonal thing to me, so you should get a blood panel done to make sure. Pain on the lower left side of the abdomen can also be a bowel problem (I speak from experience there) though I don't think that is your problem. A physical exam and an ultrasound would be a good idea. Good luck to you!!!Health Question & Answer

At your age (you aint old but youre not a teenager anymore) when stuff like this happens...ie: a big change in what used to be a regular cycle...it means you should go have a consult with your OBGYN just to make sure there is nothing wrong...I doubt its cancer but you may have a hormonal issue or a uterine cyst or something benign like that.Health Question & Answer

It may be because of some hormonal imbalance , consult a doctor he may keep you on hormone replacement therapy, if you are gaining weight, may be thyroid disorder playing some role... best of luckHealth Question & Answer

A fast weight gain is sometimes related to abnormal periods. It is not at all a normal cycle that u r getting. Talk to ur gynae. Health Question & Answer
