Are all of the pills in the birth control Aviane the same amount of hormones for the first 3 weeks?!
Question: Are all of the pills in the birth control Aviane the same amount of hormones for the first 3 weeks.?
I had a three month supply of Aviane birth control, and last month during the middle of the month, my dog (yes, it's a true story) got ahold of them and destroyed the pack of pills. So I jumped to the next pack of pills and picked up where I left off. Now I am into the last month and need to start my new pill pack tomorrow, so when I went to the pharmacy, they told me I can't get a new precription until next week. What I am asking is that when I picked up from my last pack of pills, I started in the middle, and I still have about 13 pills left over that would be the first week and most of the second, so if I take those pills, would it still be the same.? I remember my doctor telling me that this brand of birth controls had the same about of hormones throughout the whole month. I can't get ahold of her today & the pharmacist didn't seem to know anything about it. Thanks for anyone who may know!Health Question & Answer
Answers:
Yes. Aviane, the generic form of Alesse, provides the same amount of hormones every day for three weeks. See this chart for ingredients in birth control pills (it has Alesse, not Aviane, but they have the same contents): http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm
So you can substitute any of those 13 pills. But You know that the last week of pills, which are a different color, contain no active ingedients and are just there as a reminder, right.? Those can't be substituted. If you miss one, just ignore it, it doesn't matter. It looks like the active pills are red, and the inactive are green, right.? So all the same color pills have the same content.Health Question & Answer
