Vaginal Discharge, Is This Really Normal.....?!

Question: Vaginal Discharge, Is This Really Normal......?
First of all, YES, I've asked my doctor about this. So don't bother trying to badger me & tell me to go to the doctor, I already have, I'm just curious if this happens to anyone else.
Ok, I discussed with my doctor how much vaginal discharge I have, because it's really uncomfortable for me. I either have to change my underwear because it's uncomfortable, or I have to wear a panty liner.
There's no bad odor or anything. It's typically clear, sometimes there's a little white, or very little yellow. My doctor tested me for STD's & a yeast infection...and I was totally normal, nothing wrong.
She just mentioned that sometimes, for people on birth control, their discharge can increase. But I've always had this, and she said there's pretty much nothing I can do about it.
I'm just wondering if someone else has this issue, if they were told differently, or know of something that I can do to make it not happen as much.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
lizzy, its normal unfortunately - gross as you may find it.

as much as you not want to do this - it helps....try to avoid any soaps with odors - lots of powders or sprays with perfumes...

Our bodies create more "mucus" to protect the delicate balance of our female organs when it detects all kinds of foreign products.

I would say use pretty soap for you....then just regular DIAL bar soap for those more private areasHealth Question & Answer

Yes, the discharge that you are experiencing is normal. I was on birth control for about 10 months until September this year and also experienced heavier discharge while I was on the pill, however since I have gone off the pill, my discharge (although still there), is much less.

Good luck :)Health Question & Answer

YEs discharge is completely normal. Some women have more than others. Mine increases when I am nearing my period. Any discharge at all is not fun so I understand what you are saying! However, it's your vagina's way of cleaning out the bad bacteria so you don't really want to prevent it from happening :(Health Question & Answer

I Had It Too.Health Question & Answer

I'm always amazed at how many people do not believe their doctors and don't do any research about puberty, female cycles, etc.

Yes you are normal. Yes, all girls have discharge. Some more than others. Normal white/clear discharge will dry yellow when exposed to air. Plus, your diet, water intake, meds, including bc pills, illness, drugs and alcohol all effect the consistancy of your normal mucous discharge.

Some girls do produce more discharge than others, but most doctors won't do anything about it unless you've had an abnormal pap.

Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Brown: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown.Health Question & Answer
