Switching to tampons.. scared?!

Question: Switching to tampons.. scared.?
I find pads so annoying, I've been using them for 2 years and I feel so dirty and it feels like a diaper..
I'm 13 and I'm thinking of using a tampon for the first time today.
I bought 2 types just to make sure, Tampax pearl and playtex sport, the supposedly most easy ones.
I'm really superscared to use one for the first time, I don't know what to do, I find all these mixed answers, from theyre the best thing to you can die, or it'll hurt like a mother to it's really easy.. OR be it that I'm too young to even use them.
What should I do, advice.?Health Question & Answer

Butter's answers are bad. Sorry.

I learned how to use tampons all on my own by reading the insert in the box. It was weird at first, but didn't hurt and didn't kill me.

Toxic Shock Syndrome is a scary sounding disease, but in this age, it's incredibly rare as long as you are smart. You need to change your tampon every 4-8 hours and only use the minimum strength that you need. Best to start with Junior and regular strngths until you get a hand on what you'll need.

Just relax and don't force anything. Your body will guide you and tell you where to go.Health Question & Answer

I would suggest talking to your mom or another trusted female adult, so they can be there to help you if you need it.
also, don't be scared, the more scared and nervous you are the more trouble you have inserting them and being comfortable wearing them.
I would recommend buying the "Slimfits" from playtex as your first tampon, they are meant for teens and therefore are the slimmest and easiest to use.
All tampons come with a pamphlet inside the box, read all of it, especially the section on TSS.Health Question & Answer

just wear it around while at your at your house, just to make sure nothing happens. Don't leave a tampon in more than 4 hours. You can get sick. And take it easy when first putting it in. If your a virgin. It might hurt. I don't know.Health Question & Answer
