What can I do to make the lower back pain go away?!

Question: There are times I get lower back pain. Some tell me its the sciatic nerve that causes pain. I can lift weights but if I do, it has to be with a back brace. If I lift w/o the back brace I will wake up the next morning with pain to my lower back. The only thing that helps is stretching. Is there anything else I can do to make the pain go away?
Answers:
It sounds like you strained some of the muscle in your lower back. Normally if the sciatic nerve is injured you will feel the pain radiate down one or both legs. Try giving your lower back a rest for 7-10 days. Use moist heat on it by lying on your stomach and placing a towel soaked in water as hot as you can stand without burning. Some heating pads come with a foam insert for this purpose. Use Ben Gay, Icy Hot or something like that on your lower back. The patches work very well and are rather convenient. But, do not bandage or wear tight clothing if you use these products.

Always stretch well before you exercise. This lets your muscles loosen and warm up before you put them in a strain.

That's the best advice I can give you. If this does not work I suggest you see a doctor before you do damage that can't be repaired or that will require surgery.

Try massage therapy. It works for me and it's drug free! Look in the phone book for certified clinical massage therapists.
try laying on a heat pad for 1-2 hours before going to bed.
Lower back pain is caused by an impingement of nerves in lumbar area.Hot compress and a good massage like acupressure with cool liniment, just like what I do with my mom. avoid lifting but if you can't use a good body meachanics. Bend your knees with straight back and get the force to the core of your body and abdomen(also help to firm the abs)(this skill is taught in Nursing). Use your all your arm & forearm muscles and not with your shoulder(might get a broken clavicle which is the most common broken bone in upper body). Stretching also, please have a check with a therapist/doctor co'z it might be serious. Be safe!

It all depends on your age, if you are below 30 or above but not above 40 then there is a perfect remedy to get rid of this back pain. All you have to do is follow these easy steps carefully:

1. Do not sleep on soft and cozy beds. Instead, sleep on the hard ground such as the floor. You can sleep by laying a bed-sheet on the floor.

2. Do not use a pillow, your back pain may come up to your neck and it may cause severe pain in the future.

3. Always sleep straight, Never - Ever sleep side-ways or in a twisting position.

4. Sit straight, use a chair which has long back-support. This will help you if you have to spend long hours before your computer.

Well, these are the best and quick remedy which can make you free from Back pains.

This is the best and the most perfect remedy suggested by doctors all over the world !
When you've overdone it the day before, my suggestion is to go to bed with one of those pads stuck on that give you heat for 8 hours or so. I have to use them on the middle of my back because of a torn ligament. They work really well. The brand name is Thermacare and Walmart or any drug store sells them. There is a link to a page from Target below that shows what they look like.

And when you do stretching excercises.do the "pelvic rock". It's an excercise designed for pregnant women, to help with contractions.but works well with ALL lower back pain. Hope this helps!

try using small soft pillows when you are sitting for a long time.also use warm patches, especially when you are sleeping,it is very nice and it definitely makes the pain go away
I had the same problem. It comes back when i do not do the following stretch. I've a friend that was studying to be a Chiropractor. She is now a massage therapist.
Lay on the floor in push-up position. While inhaling, push up but push your torso up only. You should leave your lower body on the floor. Everything from the waist up>>push up. It will feel awkward but trust me it works. Hold in the up position for at least ten seconds and then go down easily while exhaling. Repeat at least three times.
She calls it the Cobra stretch.
Good Luck..
The best way to make lower back pain go away for me is to keep my abs as strong as I possibly can and doing lots of stretching.

Every time you lift something, lift with your back.
