would you get your period if you are going through the first stages of menopause!

Question: my mother seems to be going through menopause , as in she has all the symptoms , hot flashes , mood swings , etc. , but the thing is , she didnt get her period and it was 3 months late then it finally came , does that mean she was just undergoing stress or is she actually still going through menopause?
Answers:
Sounds like menopause to me! My mom was the same way. She would have periods, reagularly, sometimes, and sometimes go months without one. This went on for 3 or 4 years before she finally completely stopped. What she is going thru is completely normal. My mom is 46, and now she has no more periods, but is still suffering from hot flashes. I have heard that menopause can take like 5 or 6 years before it finally finsihed.and even then some women hot flashes and other side effects never stop. But, they do make a hormone pill that helps with those. =)
