Answers:
School is preparing students for the real world, and in the real world they will be faced with the choice of eating healthy or eating crap. They should be able to make their own decisions about what they stuff into their bodies, with proper education.

then how can they make money...??
Junk food in vending machines? Well, in vending machines, it offers easy access to diabetic students and teachers.
TO PROMOTE OBESITY AND FIGHT ANOREXIA!
You are what you eat.
Freedom of choice. Why should kids not get the choice to be fat. having both choices is great. Kids will bring junk food if they cant get it at school.
Because, regardless of how unhealthy it is, kids should have the right to choose what they want to eat. I dont necessarily think schools should ban junk food, but it may lead to ridiculous lawsuits like the people who sue fast food restaurants because they say they make them fat!
Its the whole, american's are fat so we should cut our kids off from sugar. its not going to work, cause the obeise kids are just going to buy the snaks before school, n bring it. N this is also focusing attentin on the obeise kids, wich is not good, cause the skinny kids are going to blame their absence of pop to them. causing more teasing.
It depends on what the profit from the junk food is going to? Your school is making some $$ off it find out what they are doing with it and how the school would suffer without it
Junk food should be banned because serious risks are involved for some kids.if the parent wants to send the kid to school with junk food that's different.
to keep vending machines in bussiness
Freedom of choice. Argue that the solution is NOT to ban something, but instead provide healthier options alongside them. Maybe they could even subsidize the healthy options so that it's cheaper than the junk food.
well when i went to school they tried to ban soda, so Id say that even though its not a food.
man truthfully this is going to be hard for u to win lol man in the world of today there are so many obese kids and alot of them are very very young people dont want to c that and for sum one to just say yes to this well its mostly money . its true wat this person said on top that its easier for diebetics to recieve the SUGAR they need but fast food who knows = ) money man money
Because its not the schools fault for giving out junk food. At least in my elemetary school they had a salad bar where anyone could eat.

Oh and by the way i will kill someone who thought up the idea of the "health food monster instead of the "cookie monster on sesamee strett
To teach moderation to children. We cant lock everything up and keep out of reach. Thats not how I was brought up. i was taught moderation and thats what we need to teach kids.
Good luck with the debate
Junk food should not be banned from school because American children are not fat enough yet, they don't waste enough tax dollars on their preventable health problems and they can't be expected to eat healthy anyways.

someone mentioned diabetics? You're fucking crazy, a type I diabetic can not just walk up to a vending machine and eat a snickers, it could kill him/her. you have no idea, do you.
because the sell of junk food would add to the amount the school can collect and fund more healthy and productive programs

i dont know
The easiest argument for NOT banning the junk food in the school is that the students who love, crave, need, have to have it types are going to bring it with them onto the school campuses anyway ! Another angle would be that the schools would be deprived of the much needed extra money for their budgets that the junk food sales genereates ! My guess is that I bet they will still sell sodas and hotdogs at the football and soccer games . because the parents buy them too !
Junk food machines should not be banned from schools. Instead, parents and teachers should allow teens to police themselves regarding the junk food machines. Teens should be allowed to make their own decisions regarding food choice. By taking away the machines, the schools are basically taking away the teens' ability to make decisions on their own. By making these smaller everyday decisions, teens are slowly learning the thought process behind making those larger decisions later on in life and the consequences that can come with those decisions.
Yes it should.I won't tell you why I think it should.I have good reasons though :)
Two reasons:
1.) Every day students are forced to conform to a set of rules, time frames, and expectations by the school systems, teachers, and pears. For many, they don't even get to choose the lunch they eat, as the cafeteria dictates this issue. For children dealing with anxiety and issues of self expression, being able to choose the snacks they eat, to be able to express themselves, even on a small level, allows them to burn energy and maintain a sense of autonomy, while causing little harm to the overall health. Yes junk food does cause problems, but not one bag of chips.
2.) To remove junk food punishes those with self control, who eat healthy every other time of the day. It takes the assumtion that because the masses can not control themselves, that it is the governments/schools obligation to dictate lifestyles. Unlike smoking, which has second hand health issues, junk food has a direct one-on-one affect. As a republic, not a socialistic or communistic society, personal rights and freedoms are key. When the government begins to self dictate the behaviors of its citizens, these freedoms begin to become compromised, and teach behavior of "follow the rule makers". We create laws to help protect the public, but when we ban junk food from schools, we tell people that self control is no longer a value. Instead regulatory control is the key to your problems. It teaches people to no longer be responsible for their own health, but to depend upon the establishment to know what is best for our health.
if the government can control what our kids eat why cant they get rid of cigarettes? obesity and smoking complications are huge killers of people.the reason why they are not banished is because they are powerful companies and the economy would suffer greatly if all these businesses went out of business.removing junk food from schools isnt such a bad idea but it does take away from freedom of choice.if parents teach their kids to make sensible choices and teach them control and not to over indulge in sweet and salty snacks they will grow up healthy.the whole idea of getting this stuff banned is from lazy parents who dont feel they should teach their children anything about proper diet and excerise and that its the schools job and they wonder why their children gain weight. It STARTS at home with the parents eating good and teaching the kids to eat good and guess what theyll carry that thru life and make smart choices about eating.there is nothing wrong with eating a candy bar and a soda so long as the child has a balanced lunch.over indulgence is what causes obesity and diabetes.its a big problem because advertising is everywhere for unhealthy foods.but the best bet is to make smart choices and remember to excerise..but its ok to eat your hamburger and fries once and awhile!
