well my mom uses percocets for her migrains, and theyseem to work.
I'm not sure if this will help, My mom has suffered from migraines for about 25 years after her first pregnancy.. She found out about a year ago that all caffeine chocolate,coffee,pop.. and so on can trigger her headaches.
Create a chart and list the food she eats and how she feels its possible that you may narrow down what it is (if it is food) that causes her headaches
BOINK!
diet coke, and 3-4 Aleve and 2 sudafed all at once.
before it gets going too bad.
She can monitor herself, what triggers the Migraine. It could be cheese, chocolates, or even some of her fav foods. Ask her to refrain from someting that might cause it. She can try doing the rest herself.

When she does maybe, she can stop eating that particular food.

Massage helps too.
other than excedrin or tynenol pm .. i dont think so.. How about this Nyquil ,stuff you can be knock out for several hours or use Tynenol Pm .. takes away pain while putting you to sleep. if that does not work.. excedrin.. a cold rag.. close blinds . no sounds and pray. And may be you should go to the doctor and ask for T3 or codeine..
she needs to go on a toxic relief fast for 30 days of water and juice. many toxins in your body can lead to devastating symptoms. Get her colon cleansed and fast. make sure you change your diet from fried salty sweat food to all live highly oxygenated foods and antioxidants. Dark colored fruits and veggies, low caffeine things like that. God didn't make these things just to make the Earth look pretty!
hi, I am so sorry. They are more than horrible.. I did the same thing. FINALLY a doctor put me on NORTRYPTALIN/ ELAVIL and that was almost seven years ago. Please tell her to try that.. She will be kinda out of it for a couple of weeks but then she will not notice the effects and they will subside and god willing so will the migraines.. By the way, I don`t know her age, But I had to STOP taking estrogen for menopause.. I will be praying for both of you.. Good Luck and God Bless.. {:-)
People who are prone to migraines should avoid caffeine, chocolate, processed meats and often cheese. There's lots of things that can trigger migraines but those are just a few.Tell her to ask her doctor about Sandiogram (i think that's what it's called) it's a medication that will help prevent migraines.Has she tried Advil Migraine Gel Caps? Other then that I would suggest a cold cloth to the back of the neck a quiet and completely dark room and rest.
This may sound crazy but put a cold cloth on her back of her neck and a bag of frozen vegetables on the bottom of her feet. Change her diet. She is probably allergic to something. Write down every thing she eats, in a diary every day, then when the head ache comes on stronger than before stop eating the product. Maybe this will help. Try cutting out the peanutbutter first of all.
Has she had an MRI scan done? Cause it could be a more serious problem, especially cause she isn't finding any relief from medication. I would suggest, that she keep a diary of the foods that she eats, when she takes her meds, amount of nightly sleep, etc, for 2 weeks. She should also make a point to write done the times when the migraines occur or when/if they subside. Then, she should be able to see a pattern between the foods she's eating and the amount of sleep that she is getting etc. and hopefully, find some relief that way. I wish her luck, I know that migraines are no fun at all, I used to get them a lot, but now I only do occasionally, and I never changed a thing that I was doing. I just used to take Excedrin Migraine Headache, it's sold over the counter. Good luck to both of you.
Migraine can accompany the menstrual period - does she tend to get them monthly? certain food can trigger them in some people - red wine, chocolate, cheese and nuts. other times it can be stress related. I get them too and they can really make you sick - the trick is to take the medicine the minute you feel it coming on and then lie down in a quiet dark room - it is much easier to kill them before they are in full bloom - I take 3 "exedrin migraine" as soon as I feel it coming on but I can't keep going on with my activities otherwise the headache comes on anyway, but if take the "exedrin migraine" (3) then lie down quietly, it often goes away. I have tried prescription drugs but the "execdrin migraine" is the only thing that works. It has altough of caffeine so it can make you a little shaky but that's a lot better than the headache. I sympathize - migraines are brutal and for anyone who doesn't get them, it's hard to imagine how sick a simple headache can make you. if you want to be nice to her -just quietly rub her forehead or her shoulders where the tension is coming from - that can help too.
Stay away from onions and peanuts they help make the migraines worse. Try taking Excedrin migrain and then go in the shower and put the water directly on your neck make the water nice and warm and keep it on there for a few minutes, then switch the water to really cold water and try and keep on your neck for a few minutes. Try both the hot and cold water on your neck back and forth for about 20 mins- to 30 mins. (Don't take the Excedrin Medicine if you can't take aspirin) Sometimes if you haven't eaten anything this will bring them on also! Try drinking a Pepsi or Mountain Dew Soda (Caffeine helps too).
I have had migraines for years. Thank God I have not had one recently. This is what I found out about them.

Stress for me was the leading cause. Without getting into too much psychobabble is there something going on in her life that involves conflict and turmoil. Bad job? Arguments with family members? Unresolved resentment? If so, see a priest, pastor, rabbi, Psychologist or anyone else qualified to resolve this.

Lack of sleep will almost always trigger them for me.
Get plenty of sleep.

Food causes will vary from person to person but tomatoes and other highly acidic foods can trigger them.

I think not drinking enough water can also cause them.

One treatment I have read of is magnesium. You need to run this past a Doctor but if you type in magnesium and migraines on a search engine you can get some information . Magnesium is something the body needs (in proper amounts). I take it from time to time and I think it helps. It is cheap and does not require a prescription.

The good news is that a person can improve on the number of them. I would use extreme caution on some of the medicines. A friend of mine starting going numb on the side of her body after taking a prescription for them. It was not a severe stroke but it was a cause for concern.

Oh and whatever you do avoid aspartame. It isn't good for you and it will give me a migraine every time I take it.
Caffeine can cause headaches, so can chocolate, red wine, some preservatives and food dyes, nitrates, and dairy sensitivity.

She needs to drink lots of plain water, eat lots of vegetables and home cooked foods from scratch.
No prepackaged foods, no boxed foods, no white breads, no packaged sweets, no sodas, only green teas, and limit soy and limit big sea fish.
Use only olive oil in cooking, no fried foods, stay away from sausages, hot dogs, and lunchmeat products (nitrates and bacteria). No coffee, not even decaffeinated. No smoking.

Also, get exercise and sunlight exposure every day.

this web site is very useful

it's connected with hospital in Rochester,Minnesota
My husband has migraines also. The only medicine he has found that works is Imitrex, it usually take a couple hours. It is best to lay down for 30 min. when you take it, that seems to work faster. He has had them for forty years. His are mostly triggered by any change in the weather, beer, smoked meats.
There are other foods but they don't affect him as bad.

The NHF recommends avoiding these foods, which may trigger migraine headaches:

· Dairy products. Primarily ripened cheeses such as Cheddar, Emmentaler, Stilton, Brie and Camembert. Cheeses that are permitted include American, cottage, cream cheese and Velveeta. Migraine sufferers should have no more than 1/2-cup daily of sour cream.
· Meats and fish. Herring either pickled or dried, sausage, bologna, bacon, pepperoni, salami, summer sausage, hot dogs, lunch meats, chicken livers and pâté.
· Fruits and vegetables. Broad beans, lima beans, fava beans, snow peas. No more than 1/2-cup daily of citrus fruits, figs, raisins, papayas, avocados or red plums. Less than 1/2 banana daily.
· Grains. Breads and crackers containing cheese or chocolate. Also Sourdough bread.
· Other foods. Items containing monosodium glutamate (MSG) such as soy sauce, meat tenderizers or seasoned salt. Fermented, pickled or marinated foods. Chocolate, nuts, peanut butter and pizza.

· Beverages. Avoid excessive amounts of caffeinated beverages such as tea, coffee or cola beverages. Migraine sufferers should have no more than two cups daily. Limit yourself to two normal size alcoholic drinks selected from
Haute Sauterne, Riesling, Seagram's VO, Cutty Sark. Especially avoid red wine.

A list of dietary triggers and foods to avoid can be found at the educational resources section of the NHF Web site www.headaches.org, under the consumer topic sheets tab.

So before you grab that hot dog off the grill, or add cheddar to your burger, consider the possible impact of these foods and avoid them.

Hope this info helped.
I use imitrex nasal spray. I have a prescription. It works really well.
NUTRASWEET! I eliminated diet soda w/aspartame and the number of migraines decreased dramatically.

I have tolerated drinking diet sodas with Splenda.
Chiropractic treatment. I suffered migraines for nearly 15 years. I sought chiro treatment, and very rarely do I get migraines anymore. I used to get 4-6 a month, now 1-2 a year.
