As a medical student this is what I can think it may be:

1) Have ur lymph nodes checked out. There may be fluid in them.

2) Check ur tonsils, maybe tonsilitis.. Do research on the palatine tonsils..(the 2 humps on the side of your mouth near the uvula)

3) Get a baterial culture, like a strep test. For all you know all you need is some good old penicillin.

4) Do you have a fever? IF so definitely get a strep test, and get blood work done to check for mono.

5) Try and do salt + water gargles. Salt is a good anticeptic. Also mouthwash regualarly, it'll help to kill some bacteria.

Hope you feel better.. Again I'm only a medical student and not a doctor. Sry, if my spelling is horrible. was never good at it.

rest!
Drink warm tea with honey.
see another doctor.
If you went to the doc. did they figure out WHY this was happening and give you suggestions for reducing the pain/swelling or send you out for other testings or put you on antibiotics or anything?

If they did nothing and sent you home, I would get a 2nd opinion.
Popcicles!
the glands under the jaw, on either side of your neck, and behind your ears (called lymph nodes) can swell up for numerous reasons. it could range from anything viral to an allergic reaction or even a goiter or thyroiditis. whichever it is, see a doctor so it can be properly diagnosed and fixed
There are some natural supplements and therapeutic magnets I use that work great. I used to get the same thing and allergies caused it. I wear a magnetic necklace and take a supplement called Jadegreen Enzymes and have not had a problem with any allergies in six months. You can email me if you would like more info.
If it's a cold, I would stick to warm stuff.
When that happens to me, I like to alternately massage the swollen glands, and put heat inducing ointment on & wrap up your neck to keep it warm. Keep drinking lots of hot stuff. If your throat is raw, drink hot honey & lemon. Also, if you can stomach it, you could try drinking hot broth laced with chopped up fresh garlic (garlic is apparently good for fighting viruses). Hope you get better soon!
If you have an infectious disease, you will naturally have swollen glands because the microbes are being filtered into your glands and there a strange battle begins where the end result is a swollen gland or a swollen tonsils. Motrin can help because it has an analgesic effect but this relieves the pain and not the infectious process. The best remedy for the moment is a warm saline gargle..Put 1/4 teaspoon salt in a 3/4 glass of warm water ang gargle twice daily. Take an antibiotic to kill the bacteria that is causing your glands to swell and if this is not resolved yet, try having a culture and sensitivity test of the microbes present from your throat. This way, you will know exactly what type of antibiotic you should take to completely eradicate the infection.
u may think i am crazy and nasty but u could pass your own
spit every morning when u wake up, 'before u speak 2 anyone .i have been doing it every time thing on my body appear and never went doctor..our own spit is a medecine and we dont even now
ICE PACKS NO DONT WORK,GARGLE WITH LISTERIN AND KEEP TAKEING THE MOTRIN BUT BECARE FULL TAKEING TO MUCH MOTRIN BECAUSE MOTRIN WILL UP SET YOUR STOMACE AND CONSTAPATE YOU.
I used to have a problem with that myself. Using hot liquids I was told by my doctor is a no no. You should drink cold liquids to help bring swelling down, just like if your ankle was swollen you would use ice. If you bring swelling down than your stopping inflamation. If you stop inflamation you'll stop the pain. It may take some time though so be patient.

don't worry! its just infaction of bacterial or vitus. the medicine u are using have to take it regular and on time. beacause it has a life circle.
There are several medication options for sorethroat. If your current medication for throat soreness is not effective you might want to ask your Physician for a Lidocaine swish and spit medication. This particular medication is very thick and works pretty good at relieving sorethroat/pain by numbing the area. Also, there is a medication called Cepastat lozenges that you can get at any local pharmacy or drugstore such as Walgreens. Hope you feel better. The best thing to do for Mono is sleep and hydrate yourself. It takes several weeks for relief of symptoms felt by Mono. I hope one of the medications I listed helps. Take a look at this website for other helpful treatments>> http://www.webmd.com/hw/infection/hw168739.asp
First you need to take the Motrin AS PRESCRIBED. Exceeding the dosage of Motrin or any pain reliever can cause serious even fatal liver damage. Second the mouth wash that you were given is not to reduce inflammation it is to help coat and help with pain like when you swallow. Rest and possibly warm compresses and cool compresses may provide you the most relief from the swollen glands, but if you have mono they will take time to go down. Popsicles are soothing, but the best thing is LOTS of rest and sleep with your head elevated on several pillows. I had mono right after i had my last baby and it was no fun. If you find that the swelling is making it almost impossible to swallow or hard to breath you need to call your doctor and go to the ER immediately. Hope you get to feeling better soon!
