what is a cyst on the brain?!

Question:
Answers:
A cyst is a fluid-filled sac that can occur in many parts of the body. Because the brain is completely surrounded by fluid, a cyst can occur in many places. The consequences of having a cyst on the brain depends on where the cyst is located, and how big it is.

The most common type of cyst is an arachnoid cyst, or intracranial cyst, which occurs when fluid gets trapped in one of the membranes that protect the brain.

Treatment depends on how the cyst affects a person. Most go undetected and untreated, and people live a normal life without any problems. If the cyst is too large, or forms in a problematic area, an individual can suffer from loss of function in the brain area that lies beneath the cyst.In that case, the cyst may be removed or drained, and the person will usually recover without any problems. It is rare that a cyst will damage the nerve cells or the blood vessels that lie beneath it, so if a cyst is discovered, but the perosn does not have any problems, a physician may decide it is better to just leave it alone.
