Question: i have a red swollen and slightly painful area near my nipple. what can this be?just 1 or 2 days before i n my bf were having some playful time together (no sex).can this be caused because of his pressing my boobs too hard?i met a doc n im on antibiotics.after 3 days of medication the redness n hardness is still there, tough no more pain..im really worried.is this breast cancer?
Answers:
Typically, breast cancer is not "sore" as you are describing. That's why it's usually hard to detect. It sounds like you have a clogged pore or gland, but you should get it checked out by a doctor.

Other Answers:
It sounds like irratation or an open sore, and it is probably hard because it is healing. If it isn't healed go back to the doc, but i dont think it is cancer.

I had a similar experience
no way to tell if that is cancer, but I think if your doctor put you on antibiotic's then he/she doesnt think it is cancer. sometimes breast can just be tender usually closert to your period. but if you are worried about cancer (which every females should be) then I guess you really should go to a medical prof. and get a screening
more than likely it is an infected gland. it is more common than you think. the redness and swelling indicate infection. did the doc check for any drainage? make sure to take all of the antibiotics and try to worry about it being breast cancer, cuz it's not.
don't worry yourself over this. No, I seriously doubt it is breast cancer and nothing to do with pressing your boobs too hard. If it is a surface area of the breast which was red, and TTP x3days ago and zero pain currently, but red/hard area is still present.sounds like an inflamed papilae (since it is near the nipple).. warm compresses, continue meds. :)

I have actually been through the exact same thing recently. I was treated with Levaquin, an anitbiotic. Like you, after three days of meds I was still not seeing improvement. Not until alomst the tenth day of treatment did it seem better. I am scheduled for some further testing the end of the month just to be safe. I was really scared too but it seems to be fine now.
I am in college for labor & delivery nurse, and it sounds like "mastitis"...did your doctor tell you what it was you had for the reasoning of giving you antibiotics? Mastitus is nothing more than a gland around your areola getting clogged (just like a pimple on the face), and therefore it causes pain and hardness. However, the antibiotics if they were given in adequate doeses and mgs, they should be more than effective, because it sounds like you have nothing more than a blocked gland in the breast. If it persists, please go see your doctor..and PREFERRABLY an OB/GYN, they specialize in women's health, including the breasts! Hope it helps!
