Started taking antidepressant-need help~!?!

Question: I started taking the antidepressant called Effexor for the first time last night at around 9:00. I woke up this morning feelings very dizzy, I almost fainted, and I broke out in sweats and started shaking. It is now 6 30 and I feel alittle better but I still feel weird, even more weird and speaced out then I did when I started taking it. My doctor said that these symptoms of nausia will pass within the next week but Im scared to continue taking it since such a low dosage after one day is already making me feel this way. Any advice?

You really need to take a shower. I started Effexor XR 150 mg per day about a year ago. . . The first day, I was all messed up. Same symptoms that you are describing. BTW keep in touch with me! Let me know how it turns out. Another thing, try taking it in the morning, that is the best time to take meds. . . But if you are taking it in the morning, eat a small meal afterwards.

ask to be put on a different antidepressant like paxil or zoloft
please keep taking effexor. the symptoms will go away in time. right now u r probably just having panic attacks cause its a new med. but after a month you will be happy u had stayed on the pills. there r chat sites out there that might help you out. just type in your browser panic attack chatrooms. that should bring up some that u might be interested in. i wish u luck. but please do stay on the pills! im on paxil for panic attacks. im like a different person now
Well !
Most of The Conventional Medicines Go Against Our System And Create Such Effects !
You have not mentioned any details of what sort of depression you have or I would have told you, your Homeopathic remedy which would have cured your depression and would have made you feel good from the first dose rather then to make you feel bad about taking it.
Please post your details or email them to me and I can tell you your remedy which will cure your depression without any complications and or side effects !
Take care and God Bless you !
Give it another day or 2 if its seriously disrupting your life and messing with your head tell your doctor. You either need a lower dosage or a different medication. Look around on line for drugs and their side effects so maybe you can recommend a few to your doctor you are wondering about and they can help you decide which is right for your condition. I used to take the lowest dose of celexa and found it very helpful for depression and anxiety, but Everyone is different. Like I said give it another 24-48 hours to let your body adjust then see your doc.
the thing about antidepr. is that u might have to take them for a very long time.. so if these symptoms go away after a week. in the long run, the meds will do a number on ur body.. you might want to seek acupuncture for depression. they have treatments to deal with mood and emotions.. feel better.
you can actually take half of that, just talk to your dr.
visit a pine forest in a nice and clean park.just sit there and relax as you look the pinetrees and smell the pine scent.it has therapeutic effect to depressed person like you.praying to GOD will help a lot (in Jesus name)
i sometimes feel that way with my wellbutrin. but never go off it after one day. you have no idea how your body will continue to react to it. your best bet is to ask your doctor to taper your dosage to get you adjusted to the sensation.

please tell us that you are seeing a mental health professional though and not depending on your GP for all your mental health needs.

being a crazy person.
your body will adjust, give it a few days. Also don't skip a dose, or these feelings will come back right away. I know when I forget I really feel it. The important thing is that taking the drug will make you feel better than if you didn't.
Depending on the dosage you are on Effexor comes in 75mg and 150mg, the 150mg was to strong for me and gave me the same symptoms I take 75 twice a day much gentler, but as already suggested take it in the morning not at night and allow your body to adjust.this takes a couple of days. Effexor is a good medication, one of the better ones I have taken but like all things your body has to adjust.
I've taken a lot of meds and I was on Effexor too but I would suggest writing down the symptoms that will help both you and your Dr. see if there is a pattern to them but whatever you do don't stop taking them your Dr. needs to know how often you have the side effects and I've found it helpful to write down feelings you can go back and see how you were feeling when you get a panic attack or feel anxious
I've been on a lot of different meds for depression, and they all make you feel weird at first, as they're getting into your system. Spacey is a very normal feeling. Just take it easy for a few days. Avoid doing anything stressful, as that could make the symptoms worse. One of the biggest things is, don't be scared. The meds aren't going to kill you. If you start worrying that they are harming you, you could work yourself into a panic attack. Just accept that you're going to feel kinda funny for a few days, but when the meds kick in after a few weeks, your life is going to be so much better. It's totally worth the discomfort you're feeling now. If the side effects don't go away after a week, then ask your doctor to try you on something else.

Good luck and be well!
just keep on taking it, your body should get adjusted to it within a week or so. i was like that when i first started on anti-depressants, all my side effects besides being a little spacey were gone in like 3 days.
