My father has near 100% blockage of an artery. Surgery and angioplasty are out.!

Question: He has already endured 2 heart attacks, 2 carotid artery operations, two open heart surgeries which totalled eight bypasses
Answers:
No..chelation is snake oil. However, there are new drugs that reverse atherosclerosis in the final stages of development and likely to hit the market soon. They are powerful anti-oxidants. Also, aggressive treatment with statin drugs with an appropriate diet have been proven to halt the progression of atherosclerosis.

Other Answers:
Some alternative practitioners use chelation to treat hardening of the arteries. The safety and efficacy of EDTA chelation therapy as a treatment for coronary artery disease are being assessed by NCCAM in a five-year study which began in 2002.

The original theory behind calcium chelation therapy was that EDTA forms a complex with the calcium in the walls of arteries. One problem with this theory is that EDTA cannot penetrate the cell walls in the arteries and therefore cannot get access to the calcium. Another is that it binds preferentially to other metals. Finally, it is noted that that calcium has almost no danger in comparison to say, cholesterol.

A number of dangers have been associated with the therapy including hypocalcaemia and decreased blood coagulation ability (possibly due to loss of calcium). Also associated with this practice is the risk of leaching of necessary trace metals.

May God keep your father safe.
At the outset I felt I may share my experience, i.e.,4 - 5 attacks,99.9% clot in artery & treated successfully by rescue PTCA.I feel a experienced cardiologist in heart specilaity hospital may be in a position to resolve the condition.Another attempt cocurrently may be tried by following pranayam (breathing exercise under guidance)by which I heard that some people have had improvement from difficult situation.Wishing early recovery & good health.
very sorry to hear about your dad how old is he if im not being to nosy im not to up to date on chelation therapy but i am very into the medical field i am not a medical professional but i will email you back and give you my opinion as i lok more into it how are his heartvalves?and i hope all goes well with him
it may or may not work, but I believe the real benefit of chelation is not the EDTA but rather the highly beneficial liquid (carrier) in which th EDTA is dissolved. This carrier is a high dose mixture of a variety of antioxidents, the major component of which is magnesium sulfate. Any beneficial outcomes, if any occur, come from the bath your arteries get of this antioxident mixture for 2 to 4 hours x the number of times you go thru the chelation procedure. I have had chelation and am convinced it contributed to my not reblocking after repeated anghiplasties (probability of a reblockage after three angioplasties is over 60%).
look at the optimal health system and add cardio-balance
