depends on your skin tone.but if it's for a night out,you want darker make up :)
You should change your make-up according to the day or season. If it is during fall or winter dark makeup. You wear heavy make-up at night. Go lighter for spring and summer and daytime hours.

i just answered your hair question. don't ask such vague questions you'll get much more satisfying answers. dark.
Well it depends on your skin tone. I would go with lighter though natural looking color are best.
Depends on:

1. Your skin color
2. The color of clothes you're wearing
3. The time of day
4. The ocassion or event
Stay with lighter shades and application during the day and darker shades and/or a heavier application at night. If you want help with specific shades go to a cosmetics counter in one of the nicer stores. They are really helpful and you can always find the same shades in cheaper brands.
If you have good skin you should purchase the color nude. It will keep your skin tones the natural color. If you see that nude is not working there are some places maybe a mall nearby that will match your skin tone for free.
I went to Marshall Field's (soon to be Macy's) on my lunchbreak to get foundation and the lady at the counter was trying makeup on me and mentioned several times that the shades were "too dark". You will look silly if you're light with dark makeup on because it'll look too obvious, and won't match your neckline. If it's too light and you're olive tone, you'll look like a wanna be goth. :-) Try to get as close to your natural complexion as possible. It's better though to go slightly lighter than darker so you don't look weird.
