is it better to be muscular and know how to throw a good punch in a fight or kno!

Question:
Answers:
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is the new era of fighting. You have to know it all to be well-versed these days. Boxing and kickboxing skills are just as important as ground fighting skills such as ju-jitsu. One without the other leaves you at a huge disadvantage.

Muscularity has little if nothing to do with effective punching or fighting skills. You don't need to be muscular, or super strong or even that fast. You have to know how to use your opponents leverage against him. Royce Gracie is a good example of this premise.

Other Answers:
1) Train at a mixed martial arts (MMA) school - one that give a good integrated mix of striking, throws, and ground fighting.

2) Lift weights - Strength matters. Skills are more important, but strength makes quite a bit of difference. Skilled little guys will beat less skilled big guys. However, if the two opponents are of equal skill, strength can be a deciding factor. There is a reason that modern MMA competitors all do strength training (which is not the same as trying to bulk up).

3) Get some good cardio training

A further note - All martial arts training will put limits on the techniques they train with. In a combat scenario, you will do what you have practiced, meaning that limits you train with will probably limit you in a fight.

This is unavoidable. I mean, who wants a class where they regularly practice full-force eye gouging? You'd have a bunch of blind students. Having had someone poke their thumb in my eye in a martial arts class before, I know very well how unpleasant it can be.

That said, try to find a class the keeps the training limitations to a minimum, but at the same time doesn't leave you too injured to function in day-to-day life.

And, avoid McDojos at all costs. Point fighting teaches light contact, meaning you will not learn how to follow through with a punch in real life. In general you will probably find the most satisfaction in an MMA class that does not even have a belt ranking system, although BJJ classes are supposed to be quite good as well.
go Ninja.
I would say anyone can learn to fight. Martial arts takes money.
Martial arts, definitely. You can be any size and hurt someone!
Taking kickboxing at a rec center is probably just as good
If you are undergoing training in the martial arts, you are at the same time conditioning yourself physically, as well as mentally. The two benefits coexist.By the way, you could be the strongest andmost muscular guy in the world, but if you can't land the punch, it is worthless. All you're doing is cutting air.
I think to defend ur self is awesome wether u ave muscles r nt martial arts is cool but nt readily available without a cost.
Martial Art will make you muscular but if you are seeking to pump your body with protein and steriod without workout you will not be as strong as u imagine.
Martial Art makes your body more fast and your movement easier, to avoid and defense not only punch and attack.
Q: are you planning to fight someone?
if your answer is yes, please make sure not to get involved in a felony..please.
I say drproctopus has it right!
