There are a lot of 'hits' on Google search for physiatrist - and I'm sure you've looked there.
From what I saw, it looks like it's worth giving them a chance at helping you!
Have you gone to a GOOD Chiropractor? They really can perform miracles, but you have to ask around for a good one. Maybe try here for a good one in your area?
Good luck! Keep trying! There IS help out there somewhere!

I have Fibromyalgia and saw a Physiatrist for several years. She was very helpful in manipulations to realign my spine. I have also seen Chiropractors. Their adjustments a comparitively more violent and traumatic to me. Physiatrists are specialists in diagnosing and treating problems of the musculoskeletal system.
In the area of chronic pain I did not find her helpful. She did, however, refer me to a pain specialist. Narcotics nearly killed me so I highly recommend a good muscle relaxant instead.
There is a decription of Phsiatrist at http://www.aapmr.org/condtreat/why.htm
Good luck!
