Question:

I disagree with that last answer. Athlete's heart is simply a common term for an enlarged heart associated with any repeated strenuous exercise. This is not a pathological condition, and there is usually no danger of cardiac disability arising from it. I was given the same diagnosis in my early 20s. I still train hard and still exercise with no adverse effects. Just keep an eye for a differential diagnosis and always get a second opinion, as you could have another existing cardiac condition along with Athlete's heart.

I was diagnosed with an atheltic heart when I was 13. In most cases, this condition is not life threatening and the chances of you suffering from sudden cardiac death is extremely low.

I went through all of intermediate and high school playing every sport: football, baseball, track, cross country, lifting weights.

However, before you continue to do any physical activity, talk to your doctor about a stress test. If there is a problem, it will show up on the test and it can be treated from there.

For now, don't worry about it. Live life and good luck.
