Is the Shingles virus dangerous?!

Question:
Answers:
Shingles virus is extremely contagious in early stage. You have to be very careful about anyone coming into contact with the sores until they scab over. Good handwashing is a must! See a doctor!

Other Answers:
No more than chicken pox. They're closely related to one another.
The hell it's dangerous! My mother all most died of shingles. She had to stay in the hospital for weeks and then I had to go help her all the time.
It mostly occurs in the elderly. What actually happens is the virus that gave you chicken pox during childhood is reactived(no one's really sure what causes this). As with any illness it is potentialy dangerous. Depends on what kind of condition you are in and how old you are when it reoccurs. Keep young children away from someone with shingles and also if you are pregnant you should steer clear. Basic precautions such as handwashing should be enough to protect others from "catching it".
It can be dangerous. If you see the signs, go to the E.R or to a doctor who can prescribe you steroids. Once you get shingles, you always have it in your system and it can appear at any time.

When I was little, I had this and waited too long to go to the E.R. They said I almost died. I had scars on my back for years afterward.
