I'd stay away from diet pills if I were you.. the risks far outweigh the benefits and no pill can magically remove fat from your body. Most simply make you lose water weight which you will regain straight away once you come off the pills. Pills containing ephedra/ephedrine are useful, but only for those who are alsoready lean and want to further reduce fat. If you're just starting out, I'd not bother.
A better option would be a sensible healthy diet, eating less calories than you require, and a decent weightlifting routine.
That encourages your body to lose weight whilst retaining muscles.. the end result = fat loss.
