An insulin pump with frequent testing is the best way. No other treatment mimics how the pancreas naturally makes insulin so well (delivering small amounts often, rather than large amounts at once). You can also fine tune your treatment more than on shots, giving .025 units on one pump if you want to. With a pump there is less chance of mathematical error sense it does all the math for you.
