Does fibromyalgia qualify you to go on disability if you can't work unless you t!

Question: I have been taking prescription narcotics for 5 years now to allow myself to work as a school counselor. It is a struggle to get out of bed in the morning due to the stiffness that goes with it, and have to try and time my medication so I am not driving under the influence. However, I hardly remember things that happen through the day and when I injured my wrist at work, I am unable to write or type (a friend is typing this for me). I am under workman's comp, but feel like I am unable to put my body through this anymore. I have two children to support as a single mom, one in college, and am not sure what to do.

I am on Social Security Disability for Depression. I also found out that I have fibromyalgia. Do apply for Social Security Disability. Go down to their office and ask for the paperwork to apply. It is a lot to fill out, but do it to the best of your ability. Get a progress note from your doctor and submit it with the paperwork. MAKE SURE YOU MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING YOU SUBMIT TO SOCIAL SECURITY in case they lose it. You most likely will be denied the first time, but appeal your case. They make it difficult for people by denying their case and discouraging them. KEEP WITH IT. Sometimes you have to hire a lawyer.

I have a cousin that has fibromyalgia that has Social Security Disability, but it took her 2 years to get it.

Every 3 to 4 years they review your case. In my state it is a State Agency that does this. I'm going thru that right now. I've supplied names of doctors, addresses and phone numbers with release forms so they can get the records from my doctors. I'm praying that I will be able to keep my benefits.

Contact me if you have any more questions. Good luck!

Contact the disability office, its a case to case situation, but yours deffinately sounds like your about there.
yes u shuld. even i had this issue
If you are determined enough to get this for yourself, then anything is possible. Give it a try, get the doctor to believe you he writes the note, and it's bon-voyage to work forever! Yeah, sounds good idea to me.
I'm sorry, my friend, as I live with it as well as Mia-fascia Pain Syndrome and arthritis. For me personally, I won't take the Narcs, I can't. I take Motrin and Soma everyday. That is just so I can function. I use heat a lot, I soak my hands in hot water, and take very hot showers. I also use Arnica Gel on my hands, neck, and back for the pain. It is Homeopathic, rubs in non-greasy, no smell at all, and is great for temporary relief. My Dr said she would put me on disability 6 years ago and I told her to bite me- I will live my life on my terms! But it is personal choice how we decide how much pain we can stand and what the quality of our lives will be. I won't spend it in bed. Blessings on you, and good luck.
Fibromyalgia is now a recognised disorder and if you have been diagnosed by a specialist (rheumatologist, etc) as having 11 of the 18 tender points, that is in fact a viable diagnosis. Although it may cost you some, I would suggest having a consult with a reputable Naturopathic Doctor. Massage Therapy, by a licensed practitioner is also effective. Many are not licensed so please keep that in mind. Fibromyalgia is a dibilitating disorder but if you find the right practitioner, you can get help. Good luck.

P.S. Inquire about a Licensed Massage Therapist who specializes in Hydrotherapy as well as salt-glows. They are very effective in ridding the body of toxins.
