Well I have panic attacks too, and I just went to the doctor for the first time last week, he prescribed PaxilCR and xanax, I to like to call someone just to talk when I have the attacks. My employer offers a free 1800 # for that sorta thing called LifeWorks. Don't be scared to take your meds though, I have been on the Paxil for a week now, and it seems ok so far, eventhough it's gonna take a while to start working before I notice anything. I only take the xanax if im HAVING a panick attack. You can click on my photo and contact me if you need any more advise about anything if you'd like, I know what you're going through.

Please look in your phone book. I am sure that you can fine a Help Line. It may be listed under Crisis or Help or Depression. Hey I've had PAs. Good Luck.
You should try calling a friend and family member, someone who knows you
Call 1(800)SUICIDE [1-800-784-2433] for help, day or night.
i know it is a suicide line, but they would help you out.

take xanax and you will be fine
I'm not a doctor, but I'll tell you my thoughts. One, you might be suffering from sleep apnea which causes you to wake up due to lack of inhalation. Two, panic attacks could be a psychosis. But don't worry, it is too easy to pile on when you aren't sure of what you are experiencing. Try to be patient and communicate as best you can with the professional who is treating you. It is frustrating but try to be patient about the whole process, it won't be known overnight. Have Faith. Good Luck.
Have A Friend Or Family Member Stay With You. Make Sure You See Your Doctor. Good Luck. MKS-7-15-02
Is this "sinus problem" sleep apnea?

That's probably not causing a panic attack, unless you're stopping breathing, and it's finally affecting more than just your sub-concious, and you're totally freaking out.

To the people that gave you advice? What you need to do, is click on your name, It will show all the questions that you've asked/answered.

Then, click on the question.

When the page loads, find the person that gave you the advice. Click on their name. When you see their profile, if they have it allowed you can email them.

You could try a hotline, like the suicide hotline. Suicide isn't the same as a panic attack, but they're paid to talk to upset people, and whether or not you want to kill yourself isn't the real issue -- you're having psychological trauma.

ok now when dealing with panic attacks there's one main thing to know. Panic attacks bring on panic attacks. your fear of having another one will actually initiate another panic attack if you are not careful. my guess your sinus problem may play a key role in one of the reasons you have panic attacks. if you wake up in the middle of the night with them often it's most likely due to lack of oxygen. if you close your mouth and breath through your nose when you're having sinus problems it may decrease the ammount of air you're breating in. I would try one of those strips people put on the ridge of their nose to keep themselves from snoring and open up their nasal cavities. that might work.
Honey I can only say this:

#1. I have panic attacks, all the time! day in day out..Klonopin helps--waiting on therapy--I definitely have issues--do you?

#2. You could try the suicide line in your area? Maybe call ahead of time..they just may have a referel

#3.KNOW ITS GONNA BE OK>

#4. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I am sending you much hope and love

good luck
Hello.
The best advice a referring medical professional gave me was not to take the doctor's perscription.
I had an urgent experience In January. Symptoms of a heart attack. WOW Great news was I turned out ok. I was happy to know it was not heart disease. My heart is fine. Although heart disease and diabetes was in the family. There are hundreds of reasons why the panick and symptoms came on. I had professional counselling for a few weeks.
The good doctor said I am ok, I do not need panick pills. Panick pills are addictive. We can confront the fears with reasoning out the fear. I met with docs a few times, now all is good. I found a workshop with the team it was called cognitive therapy. No medications just a few lessons to read and practice. If you have a bit of time, you can work it without medications. I appreciated doctors saying I am ok, and not rushing to give me medication. The way we think can really affect us at times. I have always been a positive person, but sometimes life is stressful. Try to change your pattern, do not do the same thing over and over again, or just as important try not to THINK the same thing over and over again. I was taught there is a difference between panic and anxiety attacks. I guess panick leads to anxiety attack. Our thoughts lead to panick. Many times our thinking is incorrect. The situations are not as fearful as we think. To avoid them is not good neither its called avoidance, but to observe the cause and re think it the idea. Myself I still try to avoid repetitive situations. Get sunshine too. Good Luck
