Breathe regularly through your diaphram.that means to breathe so that your stomache expands, not your chest. Do that at a steady pace for a while and relax.

I've also found that dill works really well. Go suck on a pickle or slurp some pickle juice.
i had a sever case just a few days ago.tried holding my breath -- worked the first time, then it came back.tried drinking a full glass of water -- worked the 2nd time, then it came back.then i tried breathing into a bag -- it stopped.then i went to sleep.the next morning it didnt come back.

Take a large glass of water and "slurp" the water slowly from the opposite side of the glass. You will need to bend over to perform this drinking action. You need to swallow a small amount of air as you slurp the water. You dont have to drink a large quantity just try it, it works every time. This works because the air/water will stabilize your diaphram.

someone has to scare the hell out of you.you need to get so startled that you scream. It worked for me.
This is more to prevent you from getting the hicups. Very simple but takes a while to get used to this good habbit. Try to chew many many times when you eat. Meat and fish, about 100 times, vegitables and fruits about 60 times, soft food about 30-50 times. This helps digest food well so it is easy on your stomach. You often get the hiccups when your stomach is tired or upset. So if your stomach is working smoothly, you will have less chance for the hiccups!
I asked my doctor once and he told me to get a q-tip and "scratch" the roof of your mouth with it, but not right over your tongue, but more towards the back. Actually, as far back as you can. I've tried it and it works.
