Does Amoxycilin hurt you if u dont have a bacterial infection?!

Question: Im not sure If i have strep or not, but can I just try a couple amoxycillin and see if that helps, is it gunna make me sick or anything?
Answers:
It probably won't make you sick, but it could make your body unneccisarily build up and immunity to it. Then the next time you need it, it won't work as well.

Other Answers:
No it will not, Unless you are allergic!
Why would you want to self-medicate?
Don't use medication you don't need.
Grow up.
It hurts you in that it kills a lot the harmless and even beneficial bacteria in your body.

Taking an antibiotic also increases the chances of developing strains of bacteria that are resistant to that antibiotic. You kill all the suceptible ones and only the resistant ones reproduce.
This drug is an anitbiotic, designed to slow down/terminate the reproductive cycle of bacteria (whether it is gram + or gram_ or all types I can't remember).

This includes the bacteria naturally present in your gut which helps you digest & assimilate your food.

So

1 You should never take any drug without a medic's advice
2 You may have an infection with a type of bacteria not killed by the amoxy; if is a viral infection then it definitely won't be effective
3 You are killing your 'healthy' bacteria needlessly which will screw up your digestive system
4 You are creating a resistance in your own body to the amoxy so next time you really need it it may be less effective

Basically - "Just say no" & ask a professional opinion as to the best way of dealing with it

Personal experience & my parents are both medics
you know if thats what your trying to do, just do it
its not gonna hurt
its mild

just dont try to extract it
Well, if the antibiotic has not been prescribed by your doctor for a specific bacterial infection, you could be taking the wrong antibiotic, which would not help your sore throat--for example--at all and could have these negative effects:

1) An allergic reaction.

2) Killing off the "gut flora" or friendly bacteria in your body that help you digest your food.

3) The encouragement of drug-resistant strains of bacteria in your body like pneumonia and tuberculosis, that might not hurt you, but you could then pass it on to your grandmother or baby nephew, for example. It would be much more dangerous for them.

I wouldn't do it if I were you.
if u think u have bacterial infection, go to the doctor, do a microbiology test to confirm what kind of bacteria. and if u think that u have strep infections, u still have to go to the doctor to check on what species of streptococcus. specific antibiotics and the right dosage need to be prescribed. by taking inadequate dosage or the wrong antibiotics, u could cause the bacteria to build up resistant thus harder to eradicate. antibiotics in general doesnt make u sick, u might experience side effects such as tummy discomfort thou this is rare. on my advice dont take drugs for fun!
