I;m quite sure it must be bad for the heart to smoke even without cardiac surgery. The problem comes viathe arteries which become clogged very quickly after microsurgery. I really feel for you though as a smoker myself I realise how hard it will be for you to quit. I have tred on numerous occasions using patches, gum, nasal inhalors and failed every time after varied periods of going without I am currently preparing to have one more attempt at stopping but will try the nicorette plastic cigarette treatment this is supposed to be the best t's just a small tube that pulls apart and you put a small vial of plastic that contains a cigarette filter containing nicotine the vials last for 20 minutes and are used to give the hands something to do at the same time as provididng the hit of nicotine the same way as a cigarette does. If that fails it has to be Zyban a drug that has a 94% success rate but is still not fully tested. Good luck

I've never had an angioplasty, but I promise you that if you continue to smoke, your heart will need more work.
Smoking has never been friendly with heart. Before or after angioplasty better avoid it to have long term good results of the efforts on your and doctors behalf.
