How does one measure her bra size? I know you measure under the breast and add 5!

Question: I was told that you measure around the breast and then the subtract the two measurements to get the cup size, but is it one inch for A, two inches for B, etc.
Answers:
Here's a page that has some instructions (and a table of cup sizes & inches).

That is correct UNTIL you get a band size of 38 or larger. Then, when you measure across the bust, you subtract 5 from that second measurement and compare. So, if you measure 38 and 45, you are only a 38 B. Quite frankly, this isn't the best way to find your bra size, it is only a guideline. You should TRY THEM ON to see which is the most comfortable. The center of bra (between the cups) SHOULD TOUCH YOUR CHEST, rather than being held away from it.
oprah had a show on this.look in her show archives its was how to find the perfect fit
Go to a department store's web site like Penny's or Hechts. They usually have a "How to Measure" page that explains it.
Knowing what bra size is really quite simple. First, you measure around your chest. Add five inches if it's an odd number and four inches if it's an even number. This is your measurement. To find out what cup you need, meausre the fullest part of your breasts.
-If the two numbers are the same, you need AA
-If the two numbers differ by 1 inch, you need A
-If the two numbers differ by 2 inches, you need B
-If the two numbers differ by 3 inches, you need C
etc.
