is agnucaston efctive in hyperprolactinemia?!

Question:
Answers:
Studies have historically shown that extracts of Vitex agnus-castus fruits (VACF) do indeed have beneficial effects on disorders related to hyperprolactinemia(1). Further studies indicate that Vitex agnus-castus extract has been successfully used in the treatment of many female conditions, including menstrual disorders, premenstrual syndrome, corpus luteum insufficiency, hyperprolactinemia, infertility, acne, menopause and disrupted lactation. Specific clinical reviews are available for the efficacy of VAC in PMS, cycle disorders, hyperprolactinaemia and mastalgia. Studies further show that any adverse effects following VACF usage are mild and reversible; indicating that it is a safe herbal medicine. The most frequent side effects include nausea, headache, gastrointestinal disturbances, menstrual disorders, acne, pruritus and erythematous rash. No drug interactions have been reported, although patients are counseled not to use it with hormone therapy.[2]
