Can any color tattoo ink go over black tattoo ink?!
Question: I have an all black tattoo that you cannot really tell what it is. Just wanting to know if any other color can be tattooed over black.

I am a tattoo artist and You can go over your black tattoo.
You need to tattoo white over it first, just to fade it out a bit, and then you can cover it up with something as long as its not red ink, For whatever reason the pigments in red tattoo ink do not cover over other colors very well. You can also tattoo more black around it as well making a tribal peace!

I didn't think you could tattoo anything over a tattoo. it's not a color sitting on top of your skin - it's ink physically injected into your dermal layers. I thought the only way you could recolor a tattoo was to burn off part of it to lighten it and then recolor the lightened area.

As far as I understand it, you can tattoo black ink over a colour but not colour ink over black.
