im around a friend who abuses drugs and im losing my mind over this?!
Question: he nods off all the time and is slurry. my kids see this he had had back surgery and became attached to the pain meds. im dying inside over this husband of 20 yrs. help me get some insight over this prob.

Be their for him but do not encourage or help him getting the drugs with a ride, money or any thing if you cut the supply you cut the addiction..Ask the doctor privately to ween him off the drug or you take control of the weening!
if he will reason with you simply tell him how this is affecting you and your children's life?!

The best advice I can give you is to call his Dr. and tell him not to give him anymore pain meds because he has become addicted to them. If you can talk to this man, try and explain how bad this is for the family, and for his children to see. Ask him if he will try and wean himself off of them because you are really worried about him.
Go to an al-anon meeting for yourself. Try to get him into recovery with an intervention. people at al-anon can and will help you. Its in the phone book. Or if you can't find that look for narcotics anonymous or alcoholics anonymous. The people there will help just ask.
