I like to mix cardio with weight training. I do 20-25 mins on a treadmill or eliptical trainer, then jump right into weights. I don't rest between repetitions so my heart rate stays up.
About a year ago I lost about 30 pounds un unexpectedly.long story.anyway, once I had lost this weight I figured I had better take advantage of having it gone and try to keep it off. All I have had to do is go jogging two or three times a week. I can eat pretty much anything I want.In moderation of course.and I feel soooo much better for it. I used to lift weights 4 times a week. Never did for me what jogging has. Keeps the fat and pounds off, and makes me feel alive again.
Strength training with some cardio. I have a fairly fast metabolism and burn fat a little easier than some.
jumping up and down while head-banging.
( works all your muscles - but you have a stiff neck and calves though. )
I had a health problem in 1999, that resulted in me having surgery. I was in the hospital for 10 days, and ended up losing 20# during that time. I hated being in the hospital, and having to go through surgery, but I loved leaving 20# behind! I decided to do my best to keep this weight off, so after my recovery from surgery, and after reading lots of information on exercising, I started working out. I began to weight train and do cardio, and I've been doing it ever since. I lift weights 3 days a week (love lifting weights), and I do cardio (hiking, walking, treadmill) 3 days a week, alternating this with weight training. I will lift weights for my upper body one day, do cardio the next day, lift weights for my lower body the next day, do cardio the next day, lift for my upper body the next day, and so on and so on. I am never in the gym for over an hour, and I've simply made exercising a part of my life now. One week I will lift weights for my upper body, on two different days; and lower body one day; the next week, I will reverse this the following week: lift for my lower body twice that week, and my upper body, only once. This is basically the Body For Life workout plan. I also watch what I eat of course. :)
