That is when blood bypasses the lungs through a defect inthe heart.so some blood that circulates in the body does not get oxygen.and makes you look blue.blue lips, tongue.

there are non cardiac problems that cause cyanosis too

lung problems, and it can even be a side effect of some over the counter tooth pain drugs like ambesol
lookup right to left shunt.usually this is a late development in atrial septal defect.
