It's better to work out twice a day like you are because everytime you do you're revving up your metabolism, which burns calories. Even after you stop the workout your body will continue to burn a little more calories than if you were at rest.
What I want to know is how do you find the time to work out twice a day? I wish I could.
You have to rest your muscles after a workout. Basically you are breaking them down in the gym. When they are actually developing and growing is when you are resting them.
You reach your maximum fat burning capacity at 1/2 hour.
So doing it 2x is probably best.
i think you should only do 1 hour each day, each time you work out you are breaking down muscles. also work out every other day, if you over do it you will kill your muscles.
the goal is to have your heart rate up for as long a period of time as possible. Half an hour is adequate, usually 20 minutes is enough to start burning fat.

if youre building muscle they will burn fat while theyre resting and while youre using them.

anything you do will help, the more the faster results, lesser slower results. as long as you are happy with your work out it is fine.
It is OK if you are working out on different things for example if you work out your chest and legs in the morning and you do your arms and back at night that's OK and if you only do cardiovascular then you can do cardiovascular as many times a day as you want.
Is it because you have two (2) 30 min spare time? It really depends on your goal and type of work out. If you ask me I would prefer 1 hr gym for today and 1 hr jog the next day etc..

I have an obese friend , she was required 2 times a day 1 hr in the morning and 1 hr in the afternoon in order for her to loose the excess weight. She did lost a lot but muscles also developed specifically on her thighs. We need to have our muscles relaxed that's why alternate excersise is recommended.
I suggest you try both - try working 1 week for a hour, the next week try to work 30mins x2 = and see the difference
Yes it is good to work out 1 hr or longer, you burn more calories that way, work out once a day for like a hour and a half five days a week and you will see results within a couple of weeks, and wouldn't you rather workout once a day rather than twice a day? The key is Motivation and set goals for yourself ask yourself, what do I want to accomplish? don't give up or get discouraged you can do it.

i would say yes twice a day 3or4 days only a week to allow you body mind spirt to rest and enjoy your added years of life the fullest; learn yoga 10 min to 20min limit also if you want a shorter work out
I think it is best to break up your work out, if it is light exercise.
If it is heavier exercise once a day would be better , so your muscles will have a chance to recover and rest between work outs.
They say that the benefit of aerobic exercise comes after the first 20 minutes or so that your heart rate is elevated. (I've heard that, anyway.)
So if you exercise for 20 minutes plus the next 10 minutes (during which you get the max benefit) and do that twice a day, you are getting 2 x 10 minutes (20 min.) worth of that beneficial time. If you exercise one time for an hour, you will be getting the last 40 minutes of that hour spent with elevated heart rate, so I am guessing that you would be better off staying in exercise mode for one hour instead of breaking it up into two half-hour chunks.

But I'm sure that SOME exercise is better than NO exercise, anyway. Speaking of which, I have to start getting off my own *** and getting some!
