Plus, if you are working out as well as modifying your diet to lose weight, the Atkins diet does not provide you with enough energy to have an effective workout. Even though Atkins says carbs are bad, if you are doing a lot of cardio, they are essential.

fad diets are not the way to go, cutting all of one thing out of you diet isn't good for your body. just eat healthier, the fad diets are almost impossible to maintain over long periods of time, but eating healthy is something that can be easy!
It does, and it doesn't. I was on Atikins for three weeks. I wanted to see if it worked. I lost weight quickly however as soon as I started adding carbs and sugar back in, I gained back all the weight plus some. It only works if you stay on it, and the diet is very strict!
Also, there are many draw backs to Atkins that a lot of people don't acknowledge. Carbs are needed for long term energy, and if you're not munching all the time, you feel tierd all the time and don't have a lot of energy. Also, it will make you have bad breath. All that meat and protein changes your body chemistry and will give you very foul breath. Also, a lot of items that are off limits in Atikin's are a major source of electrolytes. Eating meals high in protein depletes the electrolytes in your body quickly. When electrolytes are gone, you get horrible muscle cramps - like a non stop charlie horse in your legs, back, and arms. It usually happened early morning and the evening for me, but the long I was on Atkin's the more frequent the cramps became. I finally had to start taking unflavored pedialyte to get them to stop.
Atkin's is good for quick weight loss, but you need a more balanced diet in the long run.

Study after study shows a well balanced diet is the most effective way to lose weight and healthy. Of course we want a way to lose weight fast but that's not how our bodies work.
A diet rich in veggies, fruit, grains, and lean meat is the best way to go. You can indulge in something sweet every once in awhile the key word is moderation.
Yes it works for some and not for others. But that is with every weight loss program. I tell people that if you are interested in doing Atkins then you need to your research and read up on it. It's not easy to do. But if you do it, it will work. My wife did it exactly as it says and she lost 10 - 15 lbs. And that was one time about 9 years ago and she has kept the weight off ever since. And she only did it that one time. It's become easier to keep the weight off.
