I'm a diabetic,what fruits can I eat? What fruits I can't eat?!

Question:
Answers:
You can eat fruits that are lower in the glycemic index. You should eat fruit whole and avoid fruit juice as juices raise the blood sugar level very quickly.

Fruits provide us with health-enhancing vitamins, phytochemicals, and fiber, all important components of our diets. Diabetics should not forego the benefits of fruit, but should choose fruits wisely. The glycemic index (GI) - a measure of how fast carbohydrate foods (including fruit) are converted in the body to blood glucose - ranks foods. Diabetics should focus on fruits that rank low on the GI - below 55 (intermediate-GI foods score between 55 and 70, high-GI foods score above 70). Some low-GI fruit choices include:
An average-sized apple (GI score: 38)
Cherries (22)
Grapefruit (25)
One average-sized orange (44)
One average-sized pear (38)
One plum (39)
Examples of intermediate-GI fruits include banana (55); cantaloupe (65); mango (55); papaya (58); and pineapple (66). High-GI fruits include dried dates (103) and canned fruit cocktail (79).

My husband is diabetic and he eats fist sized apples, pears, and bananas. I would stay away from oranges they are very high in sugar. Maybe you could eat plums. Other than that you could try apple sauce. He sometimes eats strawberries.

I am diabetic and typically you can eat fruits occasionally just don't eat alot all at once because then it will start to raise your blood sugar. Just be careful with it. Everyone's body is different. For you it might not effect you as much as it would me or someone else. It might affect it alot. Just take it easy and try it out.
check carbs if less than9 carb eat it if over9 eat a fraction of them
In the past, people thought that there were certain foods that Diabetics couldn't eat. Now, we know this is not true. More important is the Glycemic Index others have written about and how much you eat at one time. So, you can eat any fruit you want, but by testing your blood sugar, you will learn how much of any fruit you can eat without raising your blood sugar too much. It takes practice and testing your blood sugar often.
