i used birth control pills it took about two months for them to kick in but i rarely even get cramps anymore and my period was horrible
You can try birth control pills. they ease menstrual cramps a whole lot---at least for me they do. i don't know about anybody else. you might try the patch. i wouldn't know about that one. i only take the pill. the pill also shortens your number of period days. besides of course giving you protection against getting pregnant. and no you i'm very sure you can not get cancer or any other disease from the pill. you should go and check with your doc just in case i'm wrong. you can also try a heating pad. but don't put it too high. i use to use the heating pad---not anymore. if they're bad, i just take 2-3 ibuprofen, and that usually calms them down good. but anyway, the heating pad, the pill, or possibly the patch. good luck!

I use Advil or Alieve , not everyone can take midol they seem to float in my stomach .I also use a warm heating pad But I do not suggest you sleep with it ..just relax with it ..Tea (warm type) seems to help ..I also make a Tea from a piece of Ginger root ..You cut about a inch long piece & peel it abit & Boil it in about 3 or 4 cups of water it will cook down you can add abit of sugar to your liking ..This Ginger tea also helps sooth a sore thoat abit too. I hope your Cramps ease up ..I get em really bad ..& have very long periods ..Stay Warm & Comfy ~ :)
Elevate feet/legs slightly -- it can take the pressure off the abdominal muscles.

endometriosis sufferer; my gynecologist suggested this technique.
I used to get really bad menstrual cramps, to the point where I was vomiting from the pain. My doctor put me on the contraceptive pill, and whilst it didn't completely eliminate the pain, it did make it somewhat better.

I have read articles about how exercise can help with menstrual cramps, and if your cramps aren't bad enough to immobilise you, perhaps you could give that a shot.

I also found that lying on a very cold floor seemed to help me. I'm not sure why, but if the pain is severe, anything is worth a try.
