what is dehydration?how to overcome it.?!

Question:
Answers:
Dehydration occurs when your body loses too much fluid. This can happen when you stop drinking water or lose large amounts of fluid through diarrhea, vomiting, sweating, or exercise. Not drinking enough fluids can cause muscle cramps. You may feel faint. Usually your body can reabsorb fluid from your blood and other body tissues. But by the time you become severely dehydrated, you no longer have enough fluid in your body to get blood to your organs, and you may go into shock, which is a life-threatening condition.
If you become mildly to moderately dehydrated while working outside or exercising:
Stop your activity and rest.
Get out of direct sunlight and lie down in a cool spot, such as in the shade or an air-conditioned area.
Prop up your feet.
Take off any extra clothes.
Drink a rehydration drink, water, juice, or sports drink to replace fluids and minerals. Drink 2 qt (2 L) of cool liquids over the next 2 to 4 hours. You should drink at least 10 glasses of liquid a day to replace lost fluids.
Rest and take it easy for 24 hours, and continue to drink a lot of fluids. Although you will probably start feeling better within just a few hours, it may take as long as a day and a half to completely replace the fluid that you lost.

Symptoms and prognosis
Symptoms may include headaches similar to what is experienced as a hangover, a sudden episode of visual snow, decreased blood pressure (hypotension), and dizziness or fainting when standing up due to orthostatic hypotension. Untreated dehydration generally results in delirium, unconsciousness, and death.

Dehydration symptoms generally become noticeable after 2% of one's normal water volume has been lost. Initially, one experiences thirst and discomfort, possibly along with loss of appetite and dry skin. Athletes may suffer a loss of performance of up to 50%, and experience flushing, low endurance, rapid heart rates, elevated body temperatures, and rapid onset of fatigue.

The symptoms become increasingly severe with greater water loss. One's heart and respiration rates will increase to compensate for decreased plasma volume and blood pressure, while body temperature may rise because of decreased sweating. Around 5% to 6% water loss, one may become groggy or sleepy, experience headaches or nausea, and may feel tingling in one's limbs (paresthesia). With 10% to 15% fluid loss, muscles may become spastic, skin may shrivel and wrinkle, vision may dim, urination will be greatly reduced and may become painful, and delirium may begin. Losses of greater than 15% are usually fatal. [1]

Treatment
Correction of a dehydrated state is accomplished by the replenishment of necessary water and electrolytes (rehydration). Even in the case of serious lack of fresh water (e.g. at sea or in a desert), drinking seawater or urine does not help, nor does the consumption of alcohol. It is often thought that the sudden influx of salt into the body from seawater will cause the cells to dehydrate and the kidneys to overload and shut down but it has been calculated that average adult can drink up to 0.2 liters of seawater per day before the kidneys start to fail.

When dehydrated, unnecessary sweating should be avoided, as it wastes water. If there is only dry food, it is better not to eat, as water is necessary for digestion. The best treatment for minor dehydration is consumption of an electrolyte-balanced fluid like a sports drink. For severe cases of dehydration where fainting, unconsciousness, or any other severely inhibiting symptom is present (the patient is incapable of standing or thinking clearly), emergency attention is required. Fluids will be given through an IV, and within a few hours, the patient will return to normal unless a complication occurs.

as dehydration is a dangerous lack of fluid, the best way to overcome it is to drink lots. water and the like, of course. booze will only worsen it ;-)
dehydration is a lack of fluids in the body to overcome it drink lots of fluids eat and rest
Simple. Keep drinking water.
Dehydration means "lack of water".
Loss of water from your body, Keep hydrated, drink water
dehydration is a lack of water in your body. you can combat it by drinking more water (especially when you're doing something that makes you sweat), eating less table salt (it makes you bloated, but doesn't hydrate you), and not consuming large amounts of alcohol.
i don't know the actual biology behind it but it means that you are lacking water in your body, so drink some water.
dehydration is quite simply a lack of sufficient water. Through over excersion or excercise, or through a sufficient length of time without water the body starts to react and drys outm slowly, shriveling as it tries to preserve vital bodily functions. It takes roughly 3 days to die from dehydration but sometimes longer depending on the individual. The best and sometimes only way to overcome it is the intake of water, though food helps as most contains some element of water.
it's when you lack of water, it can cause headaches and tiredness, so drink lots of it,however if your badly dehydrated, then you'll be throwing up and you'll need to go on a drip
lack of water,drink water
lack of water drink about 8 or more glasses a day of water

dehydration is when ur body does not get enough water. it really is essential that u get at least, i dont know, 2 glasses a day, at least. most likely more. im not sure on how to overcome it, but to prevent it, just guzzle water. take a water bottle with u if ur going walking or something like that.
plan and simple you dont have enough liquid in your body. what to do? drink ped-e-a-lite (cant spell it) or lots of jucie and water
If you are an athlete then you know that it is simply the loss of to much body fluid. It starts with sweating then muscle cramps, rise in bodily heat and then collapse. It not treated quickly and properly it can lead to severe internal damage.Things like the kidneys shutting down as well as liver and heart problems. When you loose to much water from the tissues it has to come somewhere. That's right, your blood. This will make your blood much thicker and harder to pump as well as may cause clotting which could lead to other things. All in all this is an extreme case. Most people get as far as the muscle cramps and take action to correct the in-balance.
