Three years ago, I had a brain tumor removed from the center of my brain...?!
Question: (Between the left and right hemisphere just above the corpus colloseum. It had my right ventrical closed off and was starting to press into the right side of mt brain. It was not cancer. They called it a menengioma. I called it Freddy Krugger. Has this happened to any one out there besides me that can share their nightmare with me? I take 400 mg. of dilantin a day to prevent siezures and the doctor just cut me back to 300mg per day to slowly get me off them. Next month it will be 200 per day and so on untill I don't take any. What should I expect? I really am afraid. I don't want another siezure. But I want to know if being weined off this drug at such a fast pace puts me in harms way.Has anyone gone through this?

I just passed my four year anniversary for the removal of my 4 x 7 cm left frontal meningioma. It was pushing the left side of my brain into the right. That first MRI was a scary one.
Two years ago, I was faded off dilantin/zonegran on the same slow and steady rate without problem. I hadn't had a seizure, but scans showed "abnormal activity" that could be seizure related. My neurologist said after surgery for a brain tumor you'd expect there to be some "abnormal activity". Dilantin made me so tired it was great being free from it.

I have never had a brain tumor, but it sounds like he's doing it at a month at a time right? I don't think that's too fast. Take care and good luck.
Ask your doctor about him cutting back on your meds and tell him frankly that you are worried. Ask the Dr. if hypnotism would help you to NOT have seizures or if hypnosis would even work in your case. It is worth checking into. I wish you the best.
well your lucky in away iv been on them for over 30 years, for brain sug,, plus more pills, to even think about,and yes i had my head opened up to ,iv got a bad leg from it but im doing fine, i use to get bad pain in the head from mine. but im use to it now,, it good to no your getting off them, i wish i could, i was talking 4 aday, now im down to 3, but ill be on them the rest of my life, take care and good luck,and if you do have a siezure, you,ll be ok, he mite put you back on 1 aday, dont worry that make things bad,,you.ll be ok,,,,
