Being on the contraceptive pill doesn't CAUSE breast cancer, however it does increase the risk of you developing breast cancer because of the hormones it contains.

The relative risk of developing breast cancer after 5 years of the contraceptive pill is 1.24. That means that you are 24% more likely to develop breast cancer than other women your age who are not on the pill. Although this seems like a lot, in young women the risk of developing breast cancer is extremely low, so a 24% increase in risk is not going to make much difference.

If you are concerned about the risk of breast cancer, talk to your doctor about it and see if there is some other method of contraception which would be suitable for you but wouldn't increase your risk of breast cancer. And make sure you do regular self examination of your breasts.

not usual i dont guess but my mother in law did get breast cancer from the pill so be careful and check them frequently
