any tips for a new guy with braces?!

Question: i just got braces and hate em. any tips for coping with em and tips for anything else i need to know?
Answers:
Yeah there is this rubbery wax. You can ask the doctor for. You stick it on the brackes to make them less irritating. After a while our skin will get used to the brackets and you wont need it. But it really helps at first.

Floss under the wire.

Obsess over hygiene. Ungodly ammounts of stuff will find its way into your mouth and get trapped there.
the beginning is always difficult.. took me around 2 weeks to get used to mine.. didn't do anything special, cept for the food i ate during that time..

oh yeah, don't ever get clear or white bands for your braces.. they stain like crazy.. words of experience.. hehe
Brush and use the small brush for the gap between your teeth. Use wax to smooth out the surface so it won't cut your cheek. Use mouth wash as often as you can and don't get drunk with it :). Ask your dentist what you can take for pain. You might develop the migrain while you have it. Have fun.

Ps. Don't kiss anyone with braces. You might get stuck with each other.
Ohhhh i know that i didn't believe them when they said no caramel. BUT LISTEN TO THEM! LOL i had my jaw stick together for 15 minutes. I just got mine off and believe me it IS worth it.
Dental wax can be used on any wires that poke at your cheeks or lips. If it is really irritating tell your orthodontist. He can adjust it. Also, brush along the gumline, as well as, above the wire. Circular motions work best with an extra-soft toothbrush. The healthiest ortho mouths I've seen are those that use a Water Pik every day. You can buy them in most drug stores or large department stores. If you don't Water Pik daily, then flossing is a must. This will help prevent gingival hyperplasia. This is a condition where the gums grow grotesquely enlarged. Sometimes, one has to have gingivectomy (removal of the excess gum tissue). Not exactly comfortable, but beat "monster gum tissue".
